WHFR is DJing this event with friends from Word Up (a lot of WHFR people are also involved with Word Up anyway), Sat. 8/13-Sun. 8/14, 12 to 4pm each day.

Astroturf in a bookshop?! Well, this ain’t just any bookshop. Putt Up at Word Up is a mini-golf extravaganza, with local artists and kids designing each hole, and with all proceeds going toward covering operational expenses for Word Up, the community bookshop in Northern Manhattan that popped up in mid-June and is staying till the end of September. 

Word Up is sponsored by Vantage Residential and Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, and is coordinated by Fractious Press and Seven Stories Institute. An entirely volunteer-run community arts space, Word Up is collectively staffed by neighbors, local artists, and youth. 

Music, commentary, and audience responses will be recorded and webcast live both days on Washington Heights Free Radio (www.WHFR.org).
